The aim of the Mediterranean Morphology Meetings is to give linguists working on the field of morphology the chance to present their work at a conference of moderate size in an informal setting which guarantees maximal interaction between researchers. The first four meetings, in 1997 in Mytilene (Lesvos, Greece), in 1999 in Lija (Malta), in 2001 in Barcelona (Spain), and in 2003 in Catania (Sicily, Italy) have proven the success of this formula.
The combined effect of MMM and other conferences such as the International Morphology Meeting (organized by the Institut für Sprachwissenschaft Universität Wien, Austria and by the Research Institute for Linguistics, Hungarian Academy of Sciences) has been the spontaneous development of a network of morphologists interacting in an informal yet constant way.
It is the plan of the MMM committee to develop this network into a stable organization, the European Network for Linguistic Morphology.
We want to provide those interested in morphological theory with a simple and efficient means of communication. This website will make it possible to contact other people doing research in morphological theory, exchange articles, ideas, remarks and general information related to the sub-field of morphology in an exciting new way to researchers, students, and the general public alike.
